Updated: Jul 9, 2021

Yes, its true. You will be able to send your name to MARS and it would be travelling all the way and landing right on MARS. Read further to know how to send your name to The Red Planet (link provided below).

NASA is inviting the public from all over the world to have a wonderful opportunity in sending their names to MARS. The Naming exercise by NASA started with Orion Flight Test - 1 (later known as Exploration Flight Test-1), Insight Lander and now with the upcoming MARS2020 in which NASA is sending a Lander, Rover and a Helicopter to The Red Planet.

For each name you submit to NASA, you will receive a "Boarding Pass" containing your Name and all the details about the distance travelled, your ticket number, departure time and site, Arrival site and also with all the barcoded details. The boarding pass looks very cool. The Names registered will be etched on a chip which is then attached to the spacecraft.
